Historical mining in Plymouth

21 June

Plymouth is not an area generally associated with high levels of historical mining activity such as in other parts of Devon and much of Cornwall. However, sporadic mining activity has taken place in and around the city, making a mining search a prudent step to ensure peace of mind when buying property in the area.

A recent search carried out by our mining consultancy which indicated the presence of a shaft associated with what is believed to be Wheal Looseleigh mine, and probably dating to around the early to mid 19th Century, demonstrates the point, and for around £50 it’s money well spent!
