We were pleased to host guests, led by Mindat founder Jolyon Ralph on a Mindat Adventures field trip tour of Cornwall here at Wheal Jane yesterday.
The Mineralogy Database – Mindat.org has been collecting, organising, and sharing mineral information since October 2000. It is now an essential resource used daily throughout education, academia, and industry.
As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Mindat.org is the primary outreach project of the Hudson Institute of Mineralogy
During their time at Wheal Jane the group were able to see how the former mine site is being transformed into a Mining, Minerals and Renewable Energy Business Park, see hand crafted jewellery being made from pure Cornish tin, mining analysis being undertaken for clients worldwide and a spectacular mineral specimen recovered from Wheal Jane in the 1980s.
