The legacy of a fine summer

13 July

For most of us the present long, dry and hot spell is a welcome change after very average summers during recent years.

The downside of course is that, in traditional mining areas such as Cornwall, when such a spell ends with heavy or persistent rain, as it usually does, the likelihood of shaft collapses increases.

The sheer extent of historical mining in Cornwall and the poor historical records in many areas shafts could appear almost anywhere and often where least expected. At Wheal Jane Consultancy, however, we are highly experienced in assessing and remediating shafts and other mining features to remove the risk they pose to property and people.
